After being postponed in 2020, the SGF Annual Conference was back for 2021, taking place at The Crowne Plaza in Glasgow across Thursday and Friday, where the HLP team were exhibiting the initiatives that they have been running across Scotland. Across the two days, the team embraced the chance to network again with everyone from the industry.
The team enjoyed the opportunity to engage with symbol groups, retailers and a couple of VIP guests. First to visit the stand was The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Philip Braat, where the team took the time to explain what the programme was about and how we assist in helping retailers in deprived areas of Glasgow in offering healthier choices to their consumers.
Day 2 saw First Minister Nicola Sturgeon reconnect with the HLP team and hear more about the Welby Club. As The First Minister addressed the conference, she announced that the SGF Healthy Living Programme is “one of the best anywhere in our country" whilst also securing our long-term future by assuring the audience she viewed the programme as "a permanent feature of what we do in Scotland”.
The Healthy Living Programme is here to support Scottish independent retailers offer healthy choices, increase sales and progress the government’s goal of a healthy nation by 2030. Across Scotland we are supporting retailers to deliver these options to the Scottish consumer. Our Healthy Living Development Managers work closely with our members to promote healthier options throughout your store in all categories and to support the development of more effective point of sale.
