The Welby Club Fruit Loyalty Scheme ran through the convenience store in conjunction with the Healthy Living Programme. The club is where children (and anyone else who wants to take part) would be given their own loyalty card and when they buy a single piece of fruit the card is stamped, buy 4 and number 5 is free. (free fruit must be supplied by the store)
It is a very simple concept, but it gives the children and young people their own card and hopefully encourages them to make the healthier choice for snack time. When they have completed their first card, the come back to the store and receive a certificate, making them officially members of the Welby Club. They can then go on to complete multiple cards if they wish. A very simple offering would be good to start off, such as apples, bananas, and tangerines. Something the children can easily identify and enjoy.
We will contact schools on the store’s behalf and make them aware that the store is offering this scheme and encourage the pupils to take part. The team can also facilitate the launch outside the stores by handing out the cards for a set time after school and then follow up ten days later with the certificates. This would be promoted on the HLP social media accounts. (social distance measures are in place at any of these events).
Big Breakfast mornings are a great way to educate both children and adults in maintaining a healthy diet. The Healthy Living Programme work directly with schools to help deliver this event for a retailer. Pupils are supplied with a voucher to redeem in store for a limited time (Vouchers supplied by HLP) for a bottle of water or piece of fruit. It's a great way to increase footfall in store and offer something back to the local community.
